Laser Printers Information: All-in-One Laser Printers
Rated:
Many modern laser printers aren't just printers – they do a lot of additional stuff as well! These printers aren't just limited to producing text and simple graphics on paper – they can scan, photocopy, and do other things as well. There are multifunction laser printers that can go as low as a hundred bucks, but as expected these devices perform poorer than those going for thousands of dollars. The most expensive and top-of-the-line models are truly the giants of the market – the so-called "all-in-one" printers.
Networking Capability
Printers with networking capability are extremely useful for offices. Instead of having a separate printer for every computer in the office, one printer is "shared" among all employees. Don't worry about wear and tear – a network laser printer from a good brand is built for heavy-duty tasks. Printers can be connected to an office network through various means, such as LAN (Local Area Network), Ethernet, and WiFi.
Duplex Printing
Printers that have duplex printing can print on both sides of the paper. Aside from having more flexibility with your documents, having a duplex printer can halve paper costs and reduce the amount of space that paper stacks take up. Often, printers with "duplexing" sport several sheet trays and automatic paper feeding. Thus, duplex laser printers are large machines more suited in offices than for personal home use (unless of course you have a home office!).
Fax
Some laser printer models can send and receive fax messages. The only caveat here is that you must always have paper ready in the printer tray so you won't miss out on a message! Laser printers with fax work well with printer-scanner combinations (see next item).
Scan
Probably the feature most found in multifunction laser printers, scanning capability truly turns your printer into a mean machine. With a scanning unit, you can scan documents or images and store them in the computer, or print them immediately (see next item). Scanned documents can also be faxed (using the PC or the printer itself), making life a lot more comfortable if you have an all-in-one printer with scanning and faxing capabilities!
Photocopy
Well, a multifunction printer with a scanning unit is all you need to have a printer-copier hybrid. Simply scan the document, then print it immediately. Voila – an instant reproduction!
If you ask us, multifunction laser printers seem to be a great investment for your office, whether it's in a high-rise or your home. These devices will prove to be workhorses for your business or profession.
Just remember – if one of the 'components' / 'functions' of your multifunction laser printer fail, you risk losing ALL of the printer's capabilities when the unit is taken for repair. For example, a faulty scanner might result in your having no printer to use in the end, even if what you just want to do is print, nothing more! But hey, the convenience and power of these devices more than offset their disadvantages.
